Narrative:

Pilot ran out of fuel and landed in a field. Farmer gave him 5 gals of gasoline and gave directions to peru airport. Needing to set the GPS to return home, the pilot decided to land at peru airport. After landing and being searched by mp's, pilot was informed that he had landed at grissom air force base. They contacted the local FSDO which said the aircraft was an ultralight and as such required no license or medical. Pilot reset the GPS and returned home.

Title: ULTRALIGHT PLT USING GPS LANDS GRISSOM AFB INSTEAD OF HOME FIELD.

Narrative: PLT RAN OUT OF FUEL AND LANDED IN A FIELD. FARMER GAVE HIM 5 GALS OF GASOLINE AND GAVE DIRECTIONS TO PERU ARPT. NEEDING TO SET THE GPS TO RETURN HOME, THE PLT DECIDED TO LAND AT PERU ARPT. AFTER LNDG AND BEING SEARCHED BY MP'S, PLT WAS INFORMED THAT HE HAD LANDED AT GRISSOM AIR FORCE BASE. THEY CONTACTED THE LCL FSDO WHICH SAID THE ACFT WAS AN ULTRALIGHT AND AS SUCH REQUIRED NO LICENSE OR MEDICAL. PLT RESET THE GPS AND RETURNED HOME.
