Narrative:

Air crew forgot to set altimeter to 29.92 after climbing through FL180 to FL280. Aircraft experienced IRS failure. Air crew was performing abnormal checklist and was distraction. Altimeter was inadvertently left at 30.15 inches from the departure airfield. Center controller notified air crew and correction was immediately made.

Title: AN IRS FAILURE CAPTURED ALL OF THE ATTN OF THIS FLC DURING TRANSITION THROUGH FL180. THE CHKLIST WAS RUN FOR THE FAILURE, BUT NOT THE FL180 CHKS. THE CTLR NOTIFIED THE FLC OF THEIR ALTDEV ALT OVERSHOT.
