Narrative:

I work at ZMA area 4 (oceanic). From ZOA to gtk we do not have any WX radar capabilities. We have no way of telling pilots where the bad WX is. In the last year we had 3 cases of major (severe turbulence) in which people were injured. As of today (jul/wed/96) the only tools we have are the satellite pictures, but the scale is so big that they are useless. The flying public, the pilots and controllers need WX radar for safety.
