Narrative:
Cleared for visual approach to runway 17C dfw. I initially started for new runway 17L. The first officer called this to my attention and I moved over to runway 17C about 3 NM out. After landing, I noticed that we were still on approach control frequency. I called the tower to discuss the incident afterwards and was told that it caused no problem. Supplemental information from acn 340586: I became very busy on approach. I do not recall being told to go to tower and failed to do so.
