Narrative:

On taxi out at ord, got an avionics cool valve message on the MFDU. Unable to correct. Returned to gate. We shut down engines, it went away. Maintenance had us start late. At FL290 had a pressurization problem and lost the cabin. Emergency descent into sdf. Uneventful landing. We had declared an emergency but no crash fire rescue equipment. Nobody was hurt. Called air carrier maintenance and they said problem was from that avionics valve they had placarded in ord.
