The reporter landed on runway 1 at msy and made turn onto runway 24 intersection which was an overrun area displaced threshold. The flight crew was worried they should not have used that as a taxiway. The tower did not complain.

Narrative:
Landed on runway 1 msy. First officer landed, slowed aircraft, made turn on runway 24 intersection. After I began to turn off, I noticed the area was marked as an overrun area/displaced threshold. I was already in the turn and used the area to transition to taxiway south. Tower had approved the turn onto taxiway south. No problems were encountered.

I WAS ALREADY IN THE TURN AND USED THE AREA TO TRANSITION TO TXWY S. TWR HAD APPROVED THE TURN ONTO TXWY S. NO PROBS WERE ENCOUNTERED.
