Narrative:

Cleared to cross druzz at 15000 ft. Both captain and first officer noted 1000 ft to go at 16000 ft. As flight engineer, I was copying down ATIS for dca. Altitude alert sounded at 14700 ft. Captain recovered and returned to 15000 ft. Captain stated his altimeter was erratic. I sent a message to have it checked by maintenance.
