Narrative:

'Tired of flying tired.' resignation as director of operations due to unsafe operating practices of air tax operator. As director of operations did not retain authority/authorized to make changes of operating practices. Ultimate authority/authorized rests with stockholders, president, and chief pilot of whom I reported to. Bottom line always over safety. Was not able to hire or fire pilots. Strictly liaison between pilot group and management, and management and the FAA. To my knowledge, air taxi operator was not illegal in its operation according to far 135 regulations. Unsafe practices example: currency -- pilots are checked out in 1 model citation, 2 models lear jet, 4 models king airs -- PIC. Sic are also checked out in addition to above in conquest and cessna 414. Scheduling does not reflect maintaining currency in aircraft. 25+ pilot group. Fatigue -- all 14 hour days, 5-6 days per week, standby on wkends and days off required. Average amount of sleep per night is 5 hours. Approximately 8 hours at home, 16 hours away from home. Crisis management only -- nothing proactive. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter stated that now working for the FAA as an operations inspector. Believes that it is now inappropriate to talk further about the charter company that just resigned from resulting in this report.
