Narrative:

On letdown to runway 36L at dfw at about 5000 ft MSL, approach changed us to runway 35C. Initially, vector heading looked ok but as we got closer to runway a heading of 020 degrees was given. This heading in combination with an east/northeast wind did not appear to be enough of a cut at final. The controller asked us about 3 times if we had the runway and we said yes each time. At the last min he then cleared us for the runway 35C ILS approach. I know that the controller was trying to move traffic as best he could, but this did not appear to us to work very well. Landing was executed without a problem.
