Narrative:

On this particular trip I had a passenger riding in the right seat who was comparably new to light airplanes and very inquisitive. My normal practice is to discourage conversation during high workload times such as approach, takeoff, lndgs, etc. But in this particular case, to my regret, I allowed myself to be distracted by answering my passenger questions. It had been a very rough flight and I wanted to reassure my passenger, as he may be flying with me in the future. This was a mistake. I was told when requesting taxi instructions that I had failed to report crossing the OM and had not received landing clearance.
