Narrative:

S80, first officer flying. While being vectored for approach IMC, cleared to 6000 ft, downwind for runway 35C. GPWS sounded at approximately 7000 ft. Took the proper action and started climb, until ATC was able to verify it was an incorrect warning. Unable to silence the various warnings without lowering the gear. Leveled at 9500 ft, received descent instructions and landed without further incident.

Narrative: S80, FO FLYING. WHILE BEING VECTORED FOR APCH IMC, CLRED TO 6000 FT, DOWNWIND FOR RWY 35C. GPWS SOUNDED AT APPROX 7000 FT. TOOK THE PROPER ACTION AND STARTED CLB, UNTIL ATC WAS ABLE TO VERIFY IT WAS AN INCORRECT WARNING. UNABLE TO SILENCE THE VARIOUS WARNINGS WITHOUT LOWERING THE GEAR. LEVELED AT 9500 FT, RECEIVED DSCNT INSTRUCTIONS AND LANDED WITHOUT FURTHER INCIDENT.
