Narrative:

Being vectored for ILS runway 20L, in WX, looking at radar and running deicing. Given an intercept heading and cleared for approach. First officer flying had localizer tuned and idented, I had bna VOR tuned for orientation. Intercepted localizer just outside FAF, still going fairly fast, so rapidly slowing and configuring. I joined first officer on localizer frequency. First officer had joined and was starting down GS when localizer went full scale right of course. First officer was correcting, and I retuned VOR. Did not recover localizer so we executed a missed approach. Only after this did we realize our mistake. First officer had mistakenly set 220 degree course for localizer instead of 200 degree. When I joined him we were in so close, I just matched first officer settings not catching mistake. Although we did brief the approach, somehow neither of us noticed the discrepancy. Major mistakes were then my not looking at approach plate to join first officer, and not initiating missed approach sooner.

Title: WHEN INTERCEPTING THE LOC FOR AN ILS APCH, FLC WAS CLOSE IN AND FAST, CONFIGURING THE ACFT FOR LNDG. LOC COURSE NEEDLE WENT TO FULL DEFLECTION AND FLC DID A GAR. THEY THEN NOTED THAT THEIR SET COURSES WERE 20 DEGS OFF FROM APCH COURSE AND CORRECTED FOR UNEVENTFUL APCH LNDG.

Narrative: BEING VECTORED FOR ILS RWY 20L, IN WX, LOOKING AT RADAR AND RUNNING DEICING. GIVEN AN INTERCEPT HDG AND CLRED FOR APCH. FO FLYING HAD LOC TUNED AND IDENTED, I HAD BNA VOR TUNED FOR ORIENTATION. INTERCEPTED LOC JUST OUTSIDE FAF, STILL GOING FAIRLY FAST, SO RAPIDLY SLOWING AND CONFIGURING. I JOINED FO ON LOC FREQ. FO HAD JOINED AND WAS STARTING DOWN GS WHEN LOC WENT FULL SCALE R OF COURSE. FO WAS CORRECTING, AND I RETUNED VOR. DID NOT RECOVER LOC SO WE EXECUTED A MISSED APCH. ONLY AFTER THIS DID WE REALIZE OUR MISTAKE. FO HAD MISTAKENLY SET 220 DEG COURSE FOR LOC INSTEAD OF 200 DEG. WHEN I JOINED HIM WE WERE IN SO CLOSE, I JUST MATCHED FO SETTINGS NOT CATCHING MISTAKE. ALTHOUGH WE DID BRIEF THE APCH, SOMEHOW NEITHER OF US NOTICED THE DISCREPANCY. MAJOR MISTAKES WERE THEN MY NOT LOOKING AT APCH PLATE TO JOIN FO, AND NOT INITIATING MISSED APCH SOONER.
