Narrative:

Location: ord. I arrived at the aircraft on gate before bridge was up to the aircraft. I went outside and did the walkaround in accordance with the operating manual. I thought that I looked at the left hand vane. We departed the gate late due to a tug malfunction. All checklists and taxi normal. On takeoff roll on runway 22L we got a stick shaker at between 50-60 KTS. We aborted and went back to a gate. When I got out to use the phone I found the left hand vane broken off.
