Narrative:

We were in a descent to 3000 ft. Passing through 4000 ft approach control called and asked if we were going to level at 4000 ft. We responded that we read back 3000 ft as a descent clearance. The controller replied 'no problem, descend to 3000 ft.' I began to wonder if perhaps we had made a mistake since other aircraft in the area were at 4000 ft. We had been on duty since XA50 PST and were tired. This happened at XG55 body time.

THE CTLR SEEMED TO INFER AS THE CREW WAS LEVELING AT 3000 FT THAT HE MEANT FOR THE CREW TO LEVEL AT 4000 FT. THE CREW WAS WORRIED THAT THEY MAY HAVE DONE WRONG EVEN THOUGH THE CTLR SAID IT WAS OK.
