Narrative:

On a 2 day trip we arrived late for an overnight in ric. We quickly calculated how much rest would be required and incorrectly decided we only needed 8 hours of reduced rest. Scheduling department called after we arrived at the hotel to ask when we would report the next morning. They apparently had not checked for themselves because she said nothing. The next day in clt we recalculated and realized that we had exceeded 9 hours of flight time in 24 hours with only 8 hours rest, a violation. We then called scheduling and they verified the problem and took us off the trip. This trip historically has this problem and scheduling is used to rest problems with it. When they talked to me at the hotel the previous night I got the impression they knew something I didn't, but they didn't tell me. We were tired the previous day and were apparently not mentally sharp enough to add up the time and apply the applicable (not to mention over-complicated) rest requirement regulation to our situation. And scheduling, at best, was unable to help us or back us up. At worst, they misled us intentionally, which is what I believe happened.

Title: A COMMUTER FLC MISCALCULATED THEIR REQUIRED REDUCED REST PERIOD. IT WAS REDUCED TO ONE LESS HR THAN REQUIRED AND NOT DETECTED BY CREW SCHEDULING.

Narrative: ON A 2 DAY TRIP WE ARRIVED LATE FOR AN OVERNIGHT IN RIC. WE QUICKLY CALCULATED HOW MUCH REST WOULD BE REQUIRED AND INCORRECTLY DECIDED WE ONLY NEEDED 8 HRS OF REDUCED REST. SCHEDULING DEPT CALLED AFTER WE ARRIVED AT THE HOTEL TO ASK WHEN WE WOULD RPT THE NEXT MORNING. THEY APPARENTLY HAD NOT CHKED FOR THEMSELVES BECAUSE SHE SAID NOTHING. THE NEXT DAY IN CLT WE RECALCULATED AND REALIZED THAT WE HAD EXCEEDED 9 HRS OF FLT TIME IN 24 HRS WITH ONLY 8 HRS REST, A VIOLATION. WE THEN CALLED SCHEDULING AND THEY VERIFIED THE PROB AND TOOK US OFF THE TRIP. THIS TRIP HISTORICALLY HAS THIS PROB AND SCHEDULING IS USED TO REST PROBS WITH IT. WHEN THEY TALKED TO ME AT THE HOTEL THE PREVIOUS NIGHT I GOT THE IMPRESSION THEY KNEW SOMETHING I DIDN'T, BUT THEY DIDN'T TELL ME. WE WERE TIRED THE PREVIOUS DAY AND WERE APPARENTLY NOT MENTALLY SHARP ENOUGH TO ADD UP THE TIME AND APPLY THE APPLICABLE (NOT TO MENTION OVER-COMPLICATED) REST REQUIREMENT REG TO OUR SIT. AND SCHEDULING, AT BEST, WAS UNABLE TO HELP US OR BACK US UP. AT WORST, THEY MISLED US INTENTIONALLY, WHICH IS WHAT I BELIEVE HAPPENED.
