Narrative:

On approach into dtw the aircraft was descending at a low rate to level off at 6000 ft. Thought the autoplt was holding us level at 6000 ft, then noticed we were approximately 300 ft below our assigned altitude. Both the first officer and myself noticed at about the same time. We immediately returned to our assigned altitude. No conflict was noted and no aircraft appeared on the TCASII.
