Narrative:

After completing run-up and pre-takeoff check I announced on unicom intention to taxi into position for takeoff on the favored runway, turned 45 degrees to check for landing aircraft, saw none nor heard any traffic on radio and only then taxied into position for takeoff. At the moment I stopped at takeoff position to reset gyro another single engine aircraft appeared approximately 100 ft above and landed approximately 300 ft ahead. I then realized that my radio was inoperative in both the transmission and receiving mode. I did a 180 degree turn and taxied back to the FBO to resolve the radio problem. I spoke to the other pilot involved and he stated that he saw me and assumed I was having radio problems.

Title: UNBEKNOWNST TO RPTR PLT, HIS RADIOS WERE INOP PRIOR TO TAKING THE RWY FOR TKOF. WHEN RESETTING HIS GYRO TO RWY HDG, ANOTHER ACFT LANDED OVER THE TOP OF HIM. AT THAT TIME HE REALIZED HIS RADIOS WERE INOP AND RETURNED TO THE RAMP.

Narrative: AFTER COMPLETING RUN-UP AND PRE-TKOF CHK I ANNOUNCED ON UNICOM INTENTION TO TAXI INTO POS FOR TKOF ON THE FAVORED RWY, TURNED 45 DEGS TO CHK FOR LNDG ACFT, SAW NONE NOR HEARD ANY TFC ON RADIO AND ONLY THEN TAXIED INTO POS FOR TKOF. AT THE MOMENT I STOPPED AT TKOF POS TO RESET GYRO ANOTHER SINGLE ENG ACFT APPEARED APPROX 100 FT ABOVE AND LANDED APPROX 300 FT AHEAD. I THEN REALIZED THAT MY RADIO WAS INOP IN BOTH THE XMISSION AND RECEIVING MODE. I DID A 180 DEG TURN AND TAXIED BACK TO THE FBO TO RESOLVE THE RADIO PROB. I SPOKE TO THE OTHER PLT INVOLVED AND HE STATED THAT HE SAW ME AND ASSUMED I WAS HAVING RADIO PROBS.
