Narrative:

While flying towards sby VOR about 45 DME north climbing to FL190, the airplane overshot the altitude by 250 ft for 10 seconds when corrective action was taken. Plane releveled at FL190, autoplt not in use. The controller in ZDC noted the overshoot on one sweep of the screen. He said he had traffic at FL200 10 mi away. On next sweep of scope we showed level at FL190. Total duration of overshoot about 12 seconds. Captain was flying the aircraft at the time of incident.

Title: THE FLC CLBED THROUGH THEIR FL190 ASSIGNED ALT TO 19250 FT AND THE CTLR CAUGHT THE ERROR BEFORE THE PLTS GOT THE ACFT BACK TO THEIR ASSIGNED ALT. THE TIME ABOVE FL190 WAS ABOUT 12 SECONDS.
