Narrative:

Aircraft on macy arrival to atlanta having been cleared to FL240 due to turbulence and slowed to 280 KTS. I (first officer) entered speed into performance management system (pms) then tried a couple of times to select thrust management on autoflt panel. Inadvertently I selected IAS the third time (both are on the captain's side of panel). While checking position (VOR) aircraft started descending slowly, but was noticed and corrective action taken at approximately 23600 ft. Controller avowed no conflict of traffic and no action taken. Trip terminated in atlanta.
