Narrative:

Mem to oak, B747 (cargo). Maintenance log revealed previous write-ups concerning #1 and #4 thrust reversers. Maintenance signed them off as operational. Company policy dictates that reversers are to be used for landing and rejected takeoffs only, therefore I was unable to determine if the reversers were operational until I reached my destination and applied reverse thrust. #1 and #4 reversers did not work. I feel I was lied to by maintenance.
