Narrative:

Had 2 write-ups at a contract maintenance station, one non- airworthiness, one airworthy. Mechanic from another major airline fixed both, discussed with me, signed off his entries, which I read. At destination, closing out logbook, I noticed he had not entered item numbers by his signoffs, nor had he circled a couple of small letters by the item number to indicate if it was fixed or deferred. Since he had indicated orally and in writing that they were fixed, I circled that while entering the item number. Realized later, that while I am specifically authority/authorized to correct item number errors, I should not have made the circles, even though I believe they were correct, and won't do so again.
