Narrative:

The aircraft was en route fnt to sdf climbing to 13000 ft. Radar idented. Aircraft came on frequency normal. When about 20 NM southwest dxo, the pilot asked to go to dtw to land. Radar vectors were initiated to the final approach course for runway 21R, the only runway open at this time of night. Aircraft was given the WX and runway assignment. During these vectors to final, I became busy with handoffs from other controllers. Also the dtw approach was 'non ARTS.' I was unable to determine ground speed and or altitude. The aircraft was given approach clearance, pilot made a wide right turn and I informed him he appeared to be lining up for wrong runway. He acknowledged that his turn was issued late, but that he had the numbers correct and about to center, and that he would also continue the approach. Changed to tower. The pilot did at no time acknowledge that there was a problem. No ARTS and workload added to the late turn to final. Also ZOB had a computer shut down, all flight plans had to be verbalized. Aircraft gear collapsed on landing.

Title: CARGO SMT FROM FNT TO SDF DIVERTED TO DTW FOR UNKNOWN REASON AND WAS GIVEN A VECTOR TO THE FINAL APCH COURSE FOR RWY 21R. ACFT GEAR COLLAPSED UPON LNDG.

Narrative: THE ACFT WAS ENRTE FNT TO SDF CLBING TO 13000 FT. RADAR IDENTED. ACFT CAME ON FREQ NORMAL. WHEN ABOUT 20 NM SW DXO, THE PLT ASKED TO GO TO DTW TO LAND. RADAR VECTORS WERE INITIATED TO THE FINAL APCH COURSE FOR RWY 21R, THE ONLY RWY OPEN AT THIS TIME OF NIGHT. ACFT WAS GIVEN THE WX AND RWY ASSIGNMENT. DURING THESE VECTORS TO FINAL, I BECAME BUSY WITH HDOFS FROM OTHER CTLRS. ALSO THE DTW APCH WAS 'NON ARTS.' I WAS UNABLE TO DETERMINE GND SPD AND OR ALT. THE ACFT WAS GIVEN APCH CLRNC, PLT MADE A WIDE R TURN AND I INFORMED HIM HE APPEARED TO BE LINING UP FOR WRONG RWY. HE ACKNOWLEDGED THAT HIS TURN WAS ISSUED LATE, BUT THAT HE HAD THE NUMBERS CORRECT AND ABOUT TO CTR, AND THAT HE WOULD ALSO CONTINUE THE APCH. CHANGED TO TWR. THE PLT DID AT NO TIME ACKNOWLEDGE THAT THERE WAS A PROB. NO ARTS AND WORKLOAD ADDED TO THE LATE TURN TO FINAL. ALSO ZOB HAD A COMPUTER SHUT DOWN, ALL FLT PLANS HAD TO BE VERBALIZED. ACFT GEAR COLLAPSED ON LNDG.
