An air carrier medium large transport on vector by approach control received a TCASII RA to climb reference unknown traffic at 12 O'clock and 4 NM. Air carrier climbed 900 ft above assigned altitude and notified approach control of the TCASII RA and their action. Approach controller said traffic was a VFR aircraft at 9500 ft. Air carrier returned to 10000 ft and completed their flight.

Narrative:
While being radar vectored by jax approach control, received TCASII RA to climb at 1500 FPM. Traffic was at 12 O'clock and 4 mi and closing. Never visually saw traffic. Complied with advisory and climbed. At 10900 ft received clear of conflict advisory. Returned to 10000 ft and completed flight. TCASII traffic was indicating 300 ft below. Supplemental information from acn 323198: I notified approach of climbing in response to TCASII alert. Approach acknowledged and said it was VFR traffic at 9500 ft. We accepted vector and returned to altitude. Never saw traffic.

SUPPLEMENTAL INFO FROM ACN 323198: I NOTIFIED APCH OF CLBING IN RESPONSE TO TCASII ALERT. APCH ACKNOWLEDGED AND SAID IT WAS VFR TFC AT 9500 FT. WE ACCEPTED VECTOR AND RETURNED TO ALT. NEVER SAW TFC.
