Narrative:

While taxiing out of the gate area for runway 17, my captain informed me to begin the before takeoff checklist after the taxi check was complete. Once the checklists were finished, my captain began to explain the flight for the evening and proceeded to follow our company aircraft on taxiway G. I immediately informed my captain we did not receive a taxi clearance. I promptly got a clearance, however, was questioned by ground about our position. The captain informed ground about what happened. I believe this situation evolved because I was told to do another checklist where normally our ground clearance would have been received. Therefore, my captain thought the clearance was issued because of the completed takeoff checklist.

Title: A COMMUTER FLC TAXIED WITHOUT A CLRNC. ATCT GND CTLR WAS CONTACTED ONCE THE MISTAKE WAS DISCOVERED.

Narrative: WHILE TAXIING OUT OF THE GATE AREA FOR RWY 17, MY CAPT INFORMED ME TO BEGIN THE BEFORE TKOF CHKLIST AFTER THE TAXI CHK WAS COMPLETE. ONCE THE CHKLISTS WERE FINISHED, MY CAPT BEGAN TO EXPLAIN THE FLT FOR THE EVENING AND PROCEEDED TO FOLLOW OUR COMPANY ACFT ON TXWY G. I IMMEDIATELY INFORMED MY CAPT WE DID NOT RECEIVE A TAXI CLRNC. I PROMPTLY GOT A CLRNC, HOWEVER, WAS QUESTIONED BY GND ABOUT OUR POS. THE CAPT INFORMED GND ABOUT WHAT HAPPENED. I BELIEVE THIS SIT EVOLVED BECAUSE I WAS TOLD TO DO ANOTHER CHKLIST WHERE NORMALLY OUR GND CLRNC WOULD HAVE BEEN RECEIVED. THEREFORE, MY CAPT THOUGHT THE CLRNC WAS ISSUED BECAUSE OF THE COMPLETED TKOF CHKLIST.
