Narrative:

Hoping that the easy answer is sometimes overlooked, several recent media accounts of post accident uncommanded rudder movements were caused by leaking lavatory water, condensation, or leaks of precipitation on rudder/yaw damper controls. Maybe the NTSB should re- double investigation in this area? Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: the reporter stated he saw 2 media accounts regarding problems with moisture in the electronics compartment associated with uncommanded rudder movement. He combined this with his own experience in the B727 seeing lavatory water, condensation, and leaks of water routinely in the electronics bay. He thought this report might alert people of the possibility the B737 crashes were related to this phenomena.

Title: RPTR SEES CONTAMINATION RAMPANT IN ELECTRONICS BAY AND IS CONCERNED THIS MAY CAUSE UNEXPLAINED B737 CRASHES.

Narrative: HOPING THAT THE EASY ANSWER IS SOMETIMES OVERLOOKED, SEVERAL RECENT MEDIA ACCOUNTS OF POST ACCIDENT UNCOMMANDED RUDDER MOVEMENTS WERE CAUSED BY LEAKING LAVATORY WATER, CONDENSATION, OR LEAKS OF PRECIPITATION ON RUDDER/YAW DAMPER CTLS. MAYBE THE NTSB SHOULD RE- DOUBLE INVESTIGATION IN THIS AREA? CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: THE RPTR STATED HE SAW 2 MEDIA ACCOUNTS REGARDING PROBS WITH MOISTURE IN THE ELECTRONICS COMPARTMENT ASSOCIATED WITH UNCOMMANDED RUDDER MOVEMENT. HE COMBINED THIS WITH HIS OWN EXPERIENCE IN THE B727 SEEING LAVATORY WATER, CONDENSATION, AND LEAKS OF WATER ROUTINELY IN THE ELECTRONICS BAY. HE THOUGHT THIS RPT MIGHT ALERT PEOPLE OF THE POSSIBILITY THE B737 CRASHES WERE RELATED TO THIS PHENOMENA.
