Narrative:

Climbing to FL280, received clearance from vector to proceed direct to cty. While turning to proceed direct, noticed a significant difference between omega heading of #1 and #2 omega and VOR heading. This occurred while approaching FL280. Altitude alerter sounded as we passed through FL283. I took control of the aircraft and disconnected the autoplt and began to correct to FL280. Total altitude deviation did not exceed FL284. The reason for the occurrence was the distraction caused by the disagreement in the navigation system.
