Narrative:
Leveling at 8000 ft on a climb, departure reported altitude as 8300 ft. I said I was at 8050 ft but level. I then tried #2 transponder. Discussed with mechanics and they said to see if it would duplicate.

Narrative: LEVELING AT 8000 FT ON A CLB, DEP RPTED ALT AS 8300 FT. I SAID I WAS AT 8050 FT BUT LEVEL. I THEN TRIED #2 XPONDER. DISCUSSED WITH MECHS AND THEY SAID TO SEE IF IT WOULD DUPLICATE.
