Narrative:

Parked aircraft at gate X, mia. Set parking brakes and proceeded with engine shutdown and parking checklist. While completing checklist actions (attention directed to overhead panel), I heard the first officer call out 'we are rolling!' I looked down and noted the aircraft moving slowly forward and the ground crew scattering. I immediately applied maximum brakes and reset the parking brake handle. There were no ground injuries nor was there any aircraft damage. No passenger complaints were noted. I did make a PA and reseated the passenger and arranged for the aircraft to be pushed back into proper position. Several flight attendants later complained of various ailments. I recorded the parking brake anomaly in the log for maintenance action.
