Returning from mbpv (caicas islands) to ft lauderdale executive. IFR at 8000 ft. Push to talk switch on dual control yoke stuck for 10 mins. ZMA was not happy. Told not to transmit until turned over to miami approach. Used back-up hand held and got in uneventfully in partial IMC conditions.

Narrative: RETURNING FROM MBPV (CAICAS ISLANDS) TO FT LAUDERDALE EXECUTIVE. IFR AT 8000 FT. PUSH TO TALK SWITCH ON DUAL CTL YOKE STUCK FOR 10 MINS. ZMA WAS NOT HAPPY. TOLD NOT TO XMIT UNTIL TURNED OVER TO MIAMI APCH. USED BACK-UP HAND HELD AND GOT IN UNEVENTFULLY IN PARTIAL IMC CONDITIONS.
