Narrative:

Approximately 100 mi east of gander, #4 engine low oil pressure light foward panel came on. After checking flight engineer panel and doing checklist, shut down engine. Due to working HF frequency very difficult to get through to company to give details of problem. We descended towards gander and held near airport until able to confer with dispatch. Were able to get burn numbers for flight to bos and then changed to jfk per copmany request, landing normal. One note of interest, next day maintenance informed us we had hit a very large bird on the cowl of the #3 engine. A little different spot and we could have lost #3 engine. Fate is the hunter!
