Narrative:

Having leveled off at 9000 ft MSL, after descending from 13000 ft from squaw valley VOR, my engine made a loud pop followed by a loss of manifold pressure and loss of power. The engine sounded like it ingested a valve. I declared an emergency and proceeded to the nearest airport in VFR conditions. The landing at pvf airport was normal. No injuries or damage to aircraft. Inspection of engine revealed #1 cylinder exhaust pipe was sheared at flange.
