Narrative:

Our clearance was changed from civit 1 arrival to intercept ILS runway 25R then visual runway 25R then ILS runway 25R then back to visual runway 25R. At the same time approach cleared a metroliner to maintain visual separation on us and to land on runway 25L. Also being brought in from the north for runway 24L or runway 24R and that aircraft overshot final. We had no place to go. Aircraft should not be using runway 25L and runway 25R without some stagger. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: reporter says that side by side traffic landing on close proximity parallel runways is a hazardous situation, if, as occurred, aircraft landing on runway 24L overshoot the turn to final. In this situation, there was an aircraft off the left wing landing on runway 25L, the reporter landing runway 25R and the third aircraft getting very close to the reporter, who then had aircraft 'squeezing' him from either side. He says that landing traffic on the close parallels should at least be staggered to prevent this dangerous situation.

Title: LNDG TFC TOO CLOSE TOGETHER.

Narrative: OUR CLRNC WAS CHANGED FROM CIVIT 1 ARR TO INTERCEPT ILS RWY 25R THEN VISUAL RWY 25R THEN ILS RWY 25R THEN BACK TO VISUAL RWY 25R. AT THE SAME TIME APCH CLRED A METROLINER TO MAINTAIN VISUAL SEPARATION ON US AND TO LAND ON RWY 25L. ALSO BEING BROUGHT IN FROM THE N FOR RWY 24L OR RWY 24R AND THAT ACFT OVERSHOT FINAL. WE HAD NO PLACE TO GO. ACFT SHOULD NOT BE USING RWY 25L AND RWY 25R WITHOUT SOME STAGGER. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RPTR SAYS THAT SIDE BY SIDE TFC LNDG ON CLOSE PROX PARALLEL RWYS IS A HAZARDOUS SIT, IF, AS OCCURRED, ACFT LNDG ON RWY 24L OVERSHOOT THE TURN TO FINAL. IN THIS SIT, THERE WAS AN ACFT OFF THE L WING LNDG ON RWY 25L, THE RPTR LNDG RWY 25R AND THE THIRD ACFT GETTING VERY CLOSE TO THE RPTR, WHO THEN HAD ACFT 'SQUEEZING' HIM FROM EITHER SIDE. HE SAYS THAT LNDG TFC ON THE CLOSE PARALLELS SHOULD AT LEAST BE STAGGERED TO PREVENT THIS DANGEROUS SIT.
