Narrative:

Currently parachute jump activity takes place around big foot airport (WI05) at and below 12500 ft. This operation is in the immediate vicinity of the jvl 4 SID into ord. Ord arrs are routinely vectored around and through the jumpers and aircraft, causing an unnecessary burden on both ZAU farmm sector and rfd TRACON controllers. This operation is an accident waiting to happen, if not in this area possibly elsewhere due to the extra attention required to ensure all traffic is passed and the potential loss of scan in other areas. I've talked to controllers from ZAU farmm sector and they agree that this operation is unsafe and time consuming and also like to see it stopped. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: rfd facility supervisor stated the jump aircraft have complied with far part 105 and always establish communication with the TRACON or center prior to jumpers away. This increases controller workload because of coordination between the 2 facilities.

Title: PARACHUTE JUMPING ON ARR RTE TO ORD.

Narrative: CURRENTLY PARACHUTE JUMP ACTIVITY TAKES PLACE AROUND BIG FOOT ARPT (WI05) AT AND BELOW 12500 FT. THIS OP IS IN THE IMMEDIATE VICINITY OF THE JVL 4 SID INTO ORD. ORD ARRS ARE ROUTINELY VECTORED AROUND AND THROUGH THE JUMPERS AND ACFT, CAUSING AN UNNECESSARY BURDEN ON BOTH ZAU FARMM SECTOR AND RFD TRACON CTLRS. THIS OP IS AN ACCIDENT WAITING TO HAPPEN, IF NOT IN THIS AREA POSSIBLY ELSEWHERE DUE TO THE EXTRA ATTN REQUIRED TO ENSURE ALL TFC IS PASSED AND THE POTENTIAL LOSS OF SCAN IN OTHER AREAS. I'VE TALKED TO CTLRS FROM ZAU FARMM SECTOR AND THEY AGREE THAT THIS OP IS UNSAFE AND TIME CONSUMING AND ALSO LIKE TO SEE IT STOPPED. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH RPTR REVEALED THE FOLLOWING INFO: RFD FACILITY SUPVR STATED THE JUMP ACFT HAVE COMPLIED WITH FAR PART 105 AND ALWAYS ESTABLISH COM WITH THE TRACON OR CTR PRIOR TO JUMPERS AWAY. THIS INCREASES CTLR WORKLOAD BECAUSE OF COORD BTWN THE 2 FACILITIES.
