Narrative:

Sat morning, XA30 am, clear, wind nne 5-8 mph, aeronautical country airport, 1 runway, 17/35. During my preflight inspection, 1 plane departed runway 35. I departed runway 35 and made a left pattern to downwind for a landing. (I have no electrical system or radio.) while on base, I saw a starduster 1 depart runway 17. While watching him climb out, I thought that he would continue straight out but he made a right turn to crosswind right on my altitude. By this time we were only about 100 ft apart. I made a hard right turn. About this time he saw me and also made a hard right turn. I then continued my landing approach and landing on runway 35. The starduster 1 also continued his pattern and landed on runway 17. When I confronted the pilot/owner of the starduster 1 about the near miss, he denied it ever happened.
