Narrative:

Approach for landing at ocean city (md) municipal airport (N80). Airport advisories, 'landing runway 14.' on a normally spaced downwind to runway 14, at 800 ft MSL, encountered (head-on) 2 aircraft (above described) in a loose echelon formation. 1 aircraft was towing a banner. I took immediate evasive action down and to the right. Reported the incident to counter personnel at FBO and was told that banner towing aircraft usually stay to the north of route 50. A dangerous violation of regulations. I was broadcasting regular reports of my position and intentions on CTAF (122.8).
