Narrative:

We were en route cedar key (cdk) to wimauma air park (FD77). Due to scattered to broken clouds, we climbed to 5500 ft. I called tampa approach when my GPS showed 35 mi out. The instrument approach plate for tpa showed an approach frequency of 118.5. After calling approach 3 times and receiving no reply, I called on 134. 25 and they answered immediately. I was given a code to squawk and by the time 'radar contact' was achieved I was in the north edge of the class B airspace. My commanche, a PA24-250, was ground speeding at 155 KTS, or 2.5 mi per min. Obviously, I was further south than I realized. At the request of the controller I turned to a 090 degree heading to exit class B airspace. I was switched to another frequency and the controller gave me permission to continue in the class B airspace to my destination, FD77. There was no apparent traffic in my area. There was no conflict with other aircraft.

OBVIOUSLY, I WAS FURTHER S THAN I REALIZED. AT THE REQUEST OF THE CTLR I TURNED TO A 090 DEG HDG TO EXIT CLASS B AIRSPACE. I WAS SWITCHED TO ANOTHER FREQ AND THE CTLR GAVE ME PERMISSION TO CONTINUE IN THE CLASS B AIRSPACE TO MY DEST, FD77. THERE WAS NO APPARENT TFC IN MY AREA. THERE WAS NO CONFLICT WITH OTHER ACFT.
