Narrative:

To the best of my knowledge, my student pilot was on a cross country from elp, to tcs via dmn-elp. The same route we flew our dual cross country on aug/sun/95. He stopped for fuel in tcs. While en route from tcs to dmn, he realized I had not signed his logbook. He was in full intention of stopping and calling me at deming and discussing what to do. However, when he exited onto the taxiway he scraped his left wingtip (navigation light cover) on a parked pick-up on the taxiway. The taxiway was not marked as closed. Pick-up trucks were on the taxiway. Although I did not check his final WX, as it turns out I probably would have signed his logbook because the WX was very similar to our flight 3 days earlier.

Title: ACFT DAMAGED -- PLT ON A SOLO XCOUNTRY FLT HAS A GND TAXI INCIDENT. HE ALSO FAILED TO HAVE HIS INSTRUCTOR SIGNOFF HIS FLT.

Narrative: TO THE BEST OF MY KNOWLEDGE, MY STUDENT PLT WAS ON A XCOUNTRY FROM ELP, TO TCS VIA DMN-ELP. THE SAME RTE WE FLEW OUR DUAL XCOUNTRY ON AUG/SUN/95. HE STOPPED FOR FUEL IN TCS. WHILE ENRTE FROM TCS TO DMN, HE REALIZED I HAD NOT SIGNED HIS LOGBOOK. HE WAS IN FULL INTENTION OF STOPPING AND CALLING ME AT DEMING AND DISCUSSING WHAT TO DO. HOWEVER, WHEN HE EXITED ONTO THE TXWY HE SCRAPED HIS L WINGTIP (NAV LIGHT COVER) ON A PARKED PICK-UP ON THE TXWY. THE TXWY WAS NOT MARKED AS CLOSED. PICK-UP TRUCKS WERE ON THE TXWY. ALTHOUGH I DID NOT CHK HIS FINAL WX, AS IT TURNS OUT I PROBABLY WOULD HAVE SIGNED HIS LOGBOOK BECAUSE THE WX WAS VERY SIMILAR TO OUR FLT 3 DAYS EARLIER.
