Narrative:

While following the eaa oshkosh 1995 VFR procedures -- VFR departures and the eaa official's instructions, we crossed several txwys and I back-taxied down a short part of the active runway to position myself for takeoff. The controller apparently felt we should be following some other procedure. He mentioned the taxiway crossing etc, then he cleared us for immediate takeoff. There was no conflict with other aircraft in the air or on the ground -- we were monitoring the frequency.
