Narrative:

After being cleared for takeoff on runway I noticed a ground's crew (airport operations) man on the runway cutting grass with a weed eater. Since the C-208 that I fly takes off in a very short distance and I cleared him by about 50-100 ft a tragedy was averted here. I questioned tower about my takeoff clearance and he confirmed I had been cleared to go. Had a category of aircraft that consumes a large portion of runway for takeoff been in my position the outcome could have been tragic, for both flight crew and ground crew man.
