Narrative:

I was handed off from msy approach. I reported to new 7 NM southwest, requesting landing on taxiway F. Tower said report 1 mi southwest. I reported 1 mi southwest. Tower cleared me and said traffic is BE35 on 1/2 final for runway 35L. I was looking to my right front for traffic when I heard BE35 say 'tower what about this helicopter?' I looked to my left and saw BE35 go past to my left to rear. Tower was not aware of BE35's position. Tower should have given traffic information to me and BE35. BE35 pilot should have seen me without TA.
