Narrative:
Holding at F5 behind air carrier Y (B737) ahead on taxiway V short of runway 28C. Air carrier Y cleared across runway 28C to ramp via taxiway V. Air carrier X (our flight) cleared to ramp via taxiway V and west. Both pilots clearly heard and readback 'victor whiskey to ramp.' aircraft holding in position runway 28C while air carrier Y crossed runway 28C. Air carrier X followed air carrier Y across runway 28C on taxiway V noting aircraft holding in position. After crossing runway 28C, ground control said air carrier X was cleared on taxiway F, not taxiway V. Tower listened to the tape and verified that they had given air carrier X clearance to proceed on taxiway V mistakenly.

Title: GND CTLR ISSUED FAULTY TAXI INSTRUCTIONS TO ACR ACFT.
Narrative: HOLDING AT F5 BEHIND ACR Y (B737) AHEAD ON TXWY V SHORT OF RWY 28C. ACR Y CLRED ACROSS RWY 28C TO RAMP VIA TXWY V. ACR X (OUR FLT) CLRED TO RAMP VIA TXWY V AND W. BOTH PLTS CLRLY HEARD AND READBACK 'VICTOR WHISKEY TO RAMP.' ACFT HOLDING IN POS RWY 28C WHILE ACR Y CROSSED RWY 28C. ACR X FOLLOWED ACR Y ACROSS RWY 28C ON TXWY V NOTING ACFT HOLDING IN POS. AFTER XING RWY 28C, GND CTL SAID ACR X WAS CLRED ON TXWY F, NOT TXWY V. TWR LISTENED TO THE TAPE AND VERIFIED THAT THEY HAD GIVEN ACR X CLRNC TO PROCEED ON TXWY V MISTAKENLY.
