Narrative:
We were deviating around numerous thunderstorms, then were given a clearance of 'direct laguardia when able.' we dialed in lga VOR and turned to go direct. Several mins later ATC queried our heading and gave us a new heading for lga. Turns out we were tracking to andrews AFB VOR instead of lga VOR. (Both are same frequency). Next time I'll identify the VOR before I fly the course. Also, ATC should be made aware of this 'trap.'
