Narrative:

I was assigned a 7 hour block trip having flown 28.7 hours on a 6 day look back. I was on reserve status at the time and I accepted and flew the trip not realizing that I exceeded 34 hours in 7 days by 1.7 hours. Both the scheduling department and pilot department were understaffed due to recent departures which most likely led to the oversight by both parties.
