Narrative:

While on final in C152 a go around was initiated and announced on CTAF. A national guard jet ranger then took off and paralleled our flight path climbing through our altitude parallel to the runway (100 ft left) and approximately 400 ft ahead of us. We'd been using CTAF. The helicopter announced he'd be taking off while we were on base. His radio was scratchy and another pilot later said that the helicopter had reported radio difficulty. When I saw he was on a collision course, I immediately pitched for vx at maximum climb confign and started a climbing turn to right and entered right traffic for runway 34 and landed.
