Narrative:

#1 radio was in use on the morning of apr/sun/95, flight between dca and bos, #1 for takeoff. ATC cleared an aircraft to position and hold on runway 15 with a call sign similar to ours I read back 'XXXX position and hold runway 18.' no other xmissions heard, in position then heard ATC yelling 'clear the runway now.' we did so as soon as possible. ATC told us that he had told us to hold short and the call was for aircraft on runway 15. We did not hear that transmission and he said 'no problem, no conflict!' then we were cleared for takeoff commanded to contact departure. We did so then a few mins later ATC said that this was his 7TH transmission to us, the first we heard. We then switched to #2 radio. No other receiver problems on the #2. Later in the flight, we tested #1 radio. Apparently, after the radio warmed up, there were no more problems with that radio.
