Narrative:

Taxi out clearance was 'taxiway J, taxiway right, hold short of taxiway M.' missed taxiway M and continued to runway. No other aircraft were in vicinity of taxiway M or surrounding txwys and runway for departure. It turned out the reason for the hold short was to position another aircraft in front of us for routing. No action was necessary. In fact, tower made remark of the hold short and then cleared us for takeoff. Possible factors: 1) broken sleep pattern due to late reserve call. 2) XA00 am wake- up. 3) first officer head down, not paying attention. 4) bad assumption of my part seeing no other aircraft and just continuing.
