Narrative:

Confused aircraft call signs - took heading and altitude change for air carrier-baoa (our call air carrier-aoa). Heading diverged 25-30 degrees and altitude change 9000-8600 ft (400 ft) before the mistake was caught. Immediately returned to course and previously assigned altitude and confirmed this with phx approach control.

Title: ALT AND HDG DEV DUE TO RESPONSE TO WRONG CALL SIGN.

Narrative: CONFUSED ACFT CALL SIGNS - TOOK HDG AND ALT CHANGE FOR ACR-BAOA (OUR CALL ACR-AOA). HDG DIVERGED 25-30 DEGS AND ALT CHANGE 9000-8600 FT (400 FT) BEFORE THE MISTAKE WAS CAUGHT. IMMEDIATELY RETURNED TO COURSE AND PREVIOUSLY ASSIGNED ALT AND CONFIRMED THIS WITH PHX APCH CTL.
