Narrative:

Flying airplane to palo alto from rhu. Was in contact with sjc tower. Sjc tower terminated communication and advised to squawk 1200 radar service terminated frequency change approved. Then proceeded to contact palo alto tower and was told to make straight in to runway 30. At that time it was noticed that no contact was made with moffet tower. Was not told to contact the tower by sjc controllers. Was not aware if moffet tower was in operation. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following information: analyst was unable to contact reporter. The sjc tower was contacted and the normal procedure is to tell the PF overhead sjc at 2000 ft for pao to contact moffet on 126.2 radar service terminated and squawk 1200. In addition the tower calls moffet ahead of time to tell moffet there will be a light airplane coming through their airspace from overhead sjc to land at pao.
