Narrative:

Just prior to departure, the crew chief driving the tug said the jet bridge was up against the forward cabin door. At my request, a flight attendant confirmed the jet bridge was touching the rubber seal on the bottom of the door. The agent showed up at this time to close the door for departure. The door closed normally with no door warning lights. The crew chief confirmed everything looked fine on the exterior of the aircraft. The flight to lga was normal. At lga, the door could not be opened. If this scenario could be replayed, I would have had the agent/flight attendant operate the door open as a test.
