Narrative:

The SID calls for a heading of 040 degrees till 1500 ft then a left turn to the patterson NDB with climb to 2000 ft then passing the patterson 015 degree radial climb to 3000 ft assigned altitude. After making the turn to the NDB I failed to stop at 2000 ft and was level at 3000 ft passing the NDB when departure asked our altitude. I looked at the SID again and told him. I missed the 2000 ft leveloff and he said no problem and cleared on up to 5000 ft. No evasive action was required. At night in low light conditions I will have to make sure to turn up the lights to make sure I can see all that fine print.
